Do you know if there's a way to do this in Corel Painter? One thing that I think is hindering me a little in my coloring is the fact I can't get the lines by themselves on the layer. Even if I do "preserve transparency" the program doesn't seem to distinguish the lines from the rest of the layer and I can't readily change the line colors without making a mess.
Ok, my first thought upon learning you don't use multiply, and seeing the lineart up close was, "That looks horrible!" But seeing the finished product...it actually looks really damn good. Thanks for changing my opinion. I'll probably use this method in the future.

it's ok no, I've never loaded a tutorial myself, but when submitting a deviation you can choose the size when it is fully downloaded so I guess that would be a size smaller... anyhow others might prefer it the size it is now..
